Heartsaver First Aid

The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid course is designed to train participants in first aid basics for common first aid emergencies and is geared towards anyone with limited or no medical training interested in learning how to render basic first aid care. The Heartsaver First Aid course is considered a fundamental stepping-stone for anyone interested in pursuing a career in Healthcare, as well as individuals required to meet mandatory training, regulatory, or other workplace requirements. Participants of the Heartsaver First Aid course will learn the principles and best practices used to render emergency first aid: including how to recognize an emergency; how to perform a basic rapid patient assessment; and how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other common first aid emergencies.

The Heartsaver First Aid course closely reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2020 AHA guidelines for First Aid and meets OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.151 requirements for First Aid Training.

*This course is accredited by the American Heart Association. Upon the successful completion of this program, each student will receive a Basic Life Support Provider card recognized by the American Heart Association valid for two years from the date in which it was assigned.

Basic Life Support Provider (AED/CPR)

The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support course reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines 2020 Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and will train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Providing students with the knowledge & critical skills required to recognize and manage emergency medical incidents until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. 

*This course is accredited by the American Heart Association. Upon the successful completion of this program, each student will receive a Basic Life Support Provider card recognized by the American Heart Association valid for two years from the date in which it was assigned.

Stop The Bleed

The American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED® program has prepared over 2.4 million people worldwide on how to stop the bleeding in a severely injured person. By learning how to STOP THE BLEED®, you will gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly & effectively to control a major bleed. Take the STOP THE BLEED® training course and become empowered to make a life or death difference when a bleeding emergency happens.  

During the STOP THE BLEED® program you will learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out from a major hemorrhage: (1) How to properly use your hands to apply manual direct pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) When and how to correctly apply a tourniquet. Class will conclude with students participating in a major bleed scenario that closely mimics real life emergency first-aid tactics utilized to control a major bleed, allowing students to apply the principles and practices acquired in the STOP THE BLEED® training program.

*This course is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Upon the completion of this program all students will receive a certificate of completion recognized by the ACS COT.

Defensive First Aid Level One

Defensive First Aid Level-One will provide civilian lay rescuers with the knowledge and confidence required to aid victims of traumatic injury and provide basic life support measures until the patient is delivered to the emergency room. DFA L1 is structured in a step-by-step learning format and is designed to allow students to easily comprehend the skills and essential techniques required to render critical aid while awaiting access to advanced life support services.

Students will be taught the proper field techniques and best practices to assess and treat the signs of significant trauma in the pre-hospital environment such as gunshot wounds, broken bones, severe burns, and other major traumatic injuries. Students will become familiar with the elements of the individual first-aid kit (IFAK) in relation to rapid deployment while becoming comfortable with proven first-aid tactics including controlling serious bleeding, chest injuries, compromised airways, spinal injuries, broken bones, and more. In conclusion, participants will put these newly acquired skills into practice during a live training scenario.

Defensive First Aid Level Two

Defensive Basic First Aid level two is designed to teach life-saving measures and techniques for individuals who posses basic emergency medical and defensive firearm training. DFA L2 Course curriculum closely mirrors the basic functions and operations of Emergency Medical Technicians on a minor scale. DFA L2 will prepare and equip operators with the latest tactical/combat medical techniques & procedures required to instill medical confidence and understanding for the imposition of casualties and rendering self aid while operating in the civilian environment. 

During the Defensive First Aid Level 2 course students will cover materials that make up the Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) and Advanced First Aid Kit (AFAK); Learn how to demonstrate a rapid basic patient assessment and perform medical interventions during Self-Aid/Buddy-Aid while providing care-under-fire (CUF); Demonstrate skill proficiencies on the application of tourniquets, hemostatic agents, and pressure bandages; Demonstrate casualty extraction and shelter in place techniques utilizing emergency operational maneuvers; Apply occlusive dressings to penetrating chest wounds, and properly control a patient’s airway; Address and treat trauma such as penetrating chest and spinal injuries, broken bones, shock, and more.
